2021 Grants

These educational institutions demonstrated a clear plan for the use of funds and identified how said funds will benefit Kern County’s youth to persevere.

Bakersfield Christian High School Agriculture Department

The Grant was used to purchase commercial greenhouse benches, which will provide students grow space to facilitate learning.

Bakersfield College

Agriculture Department to support their expansion and renovation of their outdoor Farm Laboratory.

Bakersfield High School Agriculture Department

The Grant provided startup money to loan students to begin their first agriculture project. Many students do not have the resources to even begin their project.

Bakersfield High School AVID Department

The Grant allowed for students to attend pre-college summer enrichment programs on various campuses and help pay for students to travel to tour college campuses.

East High School Agriculture Department

The Grant funded the formation of a sustainable urban agriculture area. It will feature a hydroponic growing system, composting bin and other experimental growing methods.

Frontier High School Agriculture Department

The Grant purchased a walk-in floral cooler for the Floral Department.

Independence High School Agriculture Department

The Grant purchased materials and supplies for Agriculture Mechanics and Livestock projects. The Grant also provided Independence FFA the opportunity to establish a loan program to help low-income students fund Ag. Mechanics projects.

Kern County Sheriff’s Activity Board

The Grant money supported the program to assist the youth of Kern County by exposing them to positive and constructive activities as a way for them to avoid some of the negative influences they might encounter such as gangs and drugs.

Shafter High School Agriculture Department

The Grant was used to purchase digital research microscopes with tablets.

2021 Scholarships

The Scotty K Gifting Project awarded 5 grants to Kern County students. Each student will receive $1,000.
