Opportunities for Success & a Better Future

Grants

We offer grants to Kern County educational institutions in the following areas:

  • Primary, secondary, and post-secondary education initiatives that create opportunities for our youth to succeed and pursue a better future
  • Programs that provide relevant work experience and mentoring opportunities in the areas of agriculture and related industries to support the current Kern County workforce
  • Agribusiness-related programs at all levels of education institutions.

These educational institutions will demonstrate a clear plan for the use of funds and will identify how said funds will benefit Kern County’s youth to persevere.

Grant opportunities for 2024 are now open. Please email Christy Hornbuckle to inform her you will be submitting an application at christy@kirschenmannfoundation.org. Please download and return when completed. Application closes and must be submitted by February 20, 2024 for consideration.

Scholarships

We offer scholarships to Kern County students seeking higher and vocational education opportunities in the following areas:

  • Students who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an agriculture- or business-related field
  • Students who are pursuing a vocational career path and seeking financial assistance with tuition and other opportunities

These students will demonstrate motivation, determination, and a sincere desire to pursue higher education and training in the above fields. Selection is based on financial need, as well as a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 at the time of application.
