These educational institutions demonstrated a clear plan for the use of funds and identified how said funds will benefit Kern County’s youth to persevere.

Arvin High School – Ag Mechanics
This plan supports the Fabrication Team with year-round competitions, welding camps, and industry training to build technical skills and prepare students for careers in the skilled trades.
Arvin High School – SAE
Our Animal Science program includes Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) livestock projects, where students gain hands-on experience raising animals. About 35 students will participate this year, spending significant time caring for their animals and learning skills such as nutrition, health care, and showmanship. Funding will help purchase swine animals and sheep feed to offset rising project costs and support student success.
Bakersfield High School – Ag Program
This proposal seeks funding to strengthen SAE opportunities, helping more students earn their State FFA Degree by their third year. By improving harvest and marketing systems for the pumpkin project, students can increase production, boost profits, and reduce financial barriers to student success.
Centennial High School – FFA
This project will assist in purchasing equipment and materials that will be used to start and establish the floral design pathway in the Centennial Agriculture Department. These items will allow for hands-on learning to take place at an industry level standard.
Del Oro High School – Ag Mechanics
Del Oro Ag Mechanics Fabrication team equipment and metal needs for various contest throughout the school year. Currently we have 7-10 contest a year that the team competes at throughout the state. The grant will provide money to purchase equipment and raw materials.
El Tejon Middle School – FFA
Monies will be used to purchase hutches, water bottles and feeders to raise a breeding pair of rabbits.
Foothill High School – FFA
Grant funds will be used to purchase official FFA dress supplies that will be organized into a chapter checkout system so all students can access professional attire for events regardless of financial need.
Frazier Mountain High School – FFA
The Welded BBQ project allows FFA Welding students to design and build a fully welded barbecue grill from start to finish. Students complete all phases—layout, cutting, welding, assembly, and finishing—gaining hands-on experience that reflects real-world fabrication and results in a functional final product.
Frontier High School –FFA
This project will expand the school farm by adding two poultry cages for broilers and turkeys, giving students a more affordable option to exhibit at the Kern County Fair as large livestock costs continue to rise. The student-managed facility will build leadership skills and support State FFA Degree goals, and a new classroom incubator and brooder will enhance hands-on learning in Animal Science.
Golden Valley High School – FFA
Grant funds will be used to provide market show goat feed to each student with a market goats, reducing their input cost of raising a goat. GV FFA market goat projects have grown each year, 2024 had 9 projects and 2025 had 14 projects.
Liberty High School – FFA
This project will develop portable Agricultural Literacy Outreach Kits for use at schools and community events. The kits will feature hands-on lessons about plants, soil, livestock, food systems, water use, and agricultural careers. After assembling materials and training student presenters, the team plans to visit five schools in the first year. Success will be measured through feedback and a final report.
Liberty High School –Husbandry
Grant funds will be used to purchase essential equipment such as heating lamps, ear tags, and medications, allowing the project to expand beyond borrowed supplies. Students will develop animal husbandry skills through breeding, lambing, administering medications, and daily flock management.
Stockdale High School – FFA
Grant funds will be used to purchase an FFA start up kit for our new teacher and future students. This project will provide critical resources for the FFA leadership team on campus.
Tehachapi High School – FFA
The funds will bw used to purchase a comprehensive hydroponic curriculum bundle for intermediate and high school students. This package includes an education rack, beginner hydroponic supplies, curriculum materials, and a one-year subscription to Upstart University, all intended to support the launch and sustainability of the program. Additional expenses, estimated at around $400 for shipping, classroom setup, and student project materials, will be covered by the school or other funding sources, ensuring the grant is fully dedicated to the core equipment and curriculum.
West High School –Ag Program
Funding will purchase equipment like a heat press, vinyl cutter, and poster printer so students can run a supervised enterprise designing and selling promotional and marketing materials for school and community agricultural events.
