We offer grant and scholarship opportunities in Kern County. View the list of grants and scholarships we gifted in 2024 below.

2025 Grants

These educational institutions demonstrated a clear plan for the use of funds and identified how said funds will benefit Kern County’s youth to persevere.

Actis Junior High School – Ag Culinary Program

The grant money will be utilized in a variety of ways to support startup needs and educational supplies and materials including but not limited to: Hydroponics stations, supplies, technology, curriculum development, showcase event and tasting supplies, community outreach experience including transportation

Arvin High School – Ag Mechanics

The grant monies will be used to purchase supplies from vendors depending on students’ project plan; Welding supplies, tractor supplies.

Arvin High School – FFA

The grant funds will cover livestock, nutrition, medications, training equipment, and show supplies. Students will track activities in project journals and participate in health checks, weigh-ins, and weekly clinics. The total cost for 45 projects is approximately $35,000. Requested funds will be used for livestock purchase, feed, show materials, and uniforms.

Bakersfield High School – Floral Program

The grant monies will be used to purchase 144 buckets to be used for floral class product distribution and project distribution

Centennial High School – Ag Program

The grant will be used to provide students with the approved uniforms for FFA, officer paraphernalia and the chapter banner. The items they are requesting are needed to start a new FFA chapter at Centennial High School.

Del Oro High School – FFA

The monies awarded from the grant will go towards the students cost to reduce the amount of money that each of them would need to pay to attend National Convention. 

Edison Middle School – FFA

The monies awarded from the grant will go towards the students cost to reduce the amount of money that each of them would need to pay to attend National Convention. 

Kern County Museum

Monies will be used for a covered teaching area in the garden. This will be a concrete slab with a sailcloth cover and movable seating. Support for a master gardener to manage the site. This would include training docents and volunteers. An orchard, three olive trees from the original farm, and three fruit trees.

North High School – Ag Program

The grant will be used to improve the housing facility for the Kern County Fair Market Swine Projects at North High School. The funds will support the purchase of heavy-duty shade cloth, wood, cables, and solar-powered fans to enhance shading, ventilation, and overall animal welfare in the pens. These upgrades will protect the pigs from heat stress, improve air circulation, and create a better learning environment for students, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in livestock management and sustainable farming practices.

Shafter High School – Floral Program

The grant monies will be used to purchase 144 buckets to be used for floral class product distribution and project distribution. The different colored buckets will allow us to separate flowers by class and by event. This will allow us to stay organized and to ensure that every class has the same flowers. 

Tehachapi High School – FFA

The Tehachapi High School Agriculture/FFA Program seeks to enhance agricultural education by acquiring professional-grade equipment that will provide 165 students with hands-on learning experiences in livestock management, professional grooming, and agricultural skill development.   

West High School – FFA Program

Grant monies will be used to purchase official dress items for students to check out and borrow for FFA events.
